This study focused on the factors that contributed to the high school dropout rate of special education students. While many studies focus on students who dropout, they fail to concentrate on the effects of extracurricular activities on the special education students. The primary purpose was to study the effect of extracurricular activities on the dropout rate of St. Louis County, Missouri special education students. Educators can use these findings to develop intervention strategies designed to decrease the dropout rate of at-risk special education students.
